e; f. Disobedience, disregard, neglect, contempt Ungelimp mid oferhýrnysse Godes beboda geearnod, L. Edg. S. 1; Th. i. 270, 12. But it occurs chiefly as a legal term the disregard of an authoritative enactment or the fine for such disregard, amounting to 120 shillings. Some of the offences to which it applies may be seen from the following passages :-- Gif hwá bútan porte ceápige, ðonne sý hé cyninges oferhýrnesse scyldig, L. Ed. 1; Th. i. 158, 14. Ðæt se wǽre, ðe rihtes wyrnde, scyldig æt þriddan cyrre cyninges oferhýrnesse ðæt is .cxx. sciłł., 2; Th. i. 160, 16. Ne underfó nán man óðres mannes man bútan ðæs leáfe ðe hé ǽr fyligde.
