Add: ¶ the word occurs as a place-name in the charters, but in some of the following instances (e. g. vi. 35, 34) it is or may be a common noun, and in some perhaps to ham rather than to hám should the first part of the compound be referred :-- On hámstedes wyllas norðewearde, C.
