In support of this form might be cited the Icel. hnípa; p. hnípti; pp. hnipinn, where trace of the strong conjugation remains only in past participle, and such a pair of strong and weak verbs as hnígan, hnigian. But more probably the past tense hnipte may be assigned to a weak hnippan,
