  • Mid lande and mid loge

    cum terra et cum aqua,

      C. D. iv. 202, l.
[The grant in which this phrase occurs is of land that had been held by a ' húskarll' of king Edward. The alliterative phrase ' land and lögr' is common in Icelandic, so perhaps loge shows Scandinavian influence and is the same as English lage (< lagu, q. v. ), or it may be from a nominative log. v. N. E. D. lough.]
